CEREC

When most people are faced with tooth replacement and told they need an implant, panic sets in on various levels:

  • How much pain will I experience?

  • Will I need a lot of time to recover?

  • How many appointments will I need to attend to complete this procedure?

We are proud and delighted to tell you our office has made an investment in your comfort and your time.  We are a CEREC certified practice.

Traditional methods for creating a crown to go over an implant required impressions to be taken and sent to the lab.  A temporary crown was placed to get you by for a week or two until the lab has completed your permanent crown.  You come back a second time and your permanent crown was placed.

With Cerec technology temporary crowns and second visits are a thing of the past.  The first step takes about two minutes.  Our team will use an instrument called a CAD/CAM 3-D imaging camera, gliding it over and around the tooth/teeth that need to be replaced.  By doing this digital impressions in natural color are being stored into the software system.

Next, your doctor will electronically send the finished image to the Cerec Milling Machine, located in our office.  A ceramic block that matches your natural tooth shade is placed in the Cerec Milling Machine.  About 10 – 20 minutes later, your all-ceramic, natural tooth-colored restoration is finished.  There is no need for temporary crowns or return visits to complete this part of the implant procedure.  It’s all done in a single appointment.  Within two hours you will emerge from our office experiencing no pain, no need to recover and your permanent tooth will be in place.
